SUMMER 2020
Our first online modern dance class.
Logging on for the love of modern from Hawaii, Alaska, Washington State, and the East Coast.
So good to see all of these shining faces on the screen!

Our first round of online modern dance classes.

Thanks to some Zoom magic,
we shared time together,
held class, explored new movement,
and collaborated through music and dance.

WE LOVED IT!

American Dance, specifically American Modern Dance, is very much an art form that is original to this country.
The energy, meeting of diverse influences through different cultures, along with in some cases appropriation, and the singular creativity of the artists that have made up its history, have had a profound effect on the dance arts world wide. Modern Dance by virtue of the numerous styles that have developed through the investigation of movement within its discipline have in turn influenced the styles and understanding of movement of many other dance disciplines from Ballet to Jazz. And by means of its ability to take on challenging subject matter it has opened many fruitful pathways that changed our understanding of what dance can be, who it can speak to, and what it has to offer as a look into what makes us human and how we currently live our lives.

to practice working together via Zoom.
